Poor product with unacceptable breathing resistance

I’ve got nothing good to say about this product or the manufacturer. In the water, there is a huge anoint of resistance to inhalation and exhalation. It’s so bad that it basically renders the snorkel completely useless. I’ve tried to contact the manufacturer about this and those efforts have been ignored.

    Works great

When I first saw this I knew I had to have it. It finally arrived and I took the advise of just casually using it to breathe for about 4 minutes, as directed. Good advise! It takes a bit of getting used to as the effort to breathe is slightly higher than with a normal snorkel; I'm sure because of the valve situation in this device. But it worked great! I got comfortable with it pretty quickly and can't wait to start training with it.

Fantastic Air Intake but Some Effort to Expel

This item is unique. I have been using the Michael Phelps snorkel for years and love it, but was intrigued with this design when I saw it. Major pluses are great quality construction, phenomenal comfort in headband and mouthpiece, and huge volume of air available for intake. The only negatives for me are the extra pressure required to exhale and the noise and turbulence in my ears when air is expelled. I am keeping it, but find I predominately use the Phelps snorkel. I give it 5 stars because I am a novice swimmer ( though daily ) and believe the negatives might not exist for a more advanced competitor.

has its good points, but also has some drawbacks

all they say about it is true: constant fresh air, comfortable fit. They don't tell you about how much more effore/strength it takes to breath... it takes much more breathing muscle to suck in a breath of air because the one-way valves at the top of the snorkle require a significant amount of your muscle power to operate/open and allow fresh air in. After using the Powerbreather in lap swiming several times I feel the product is not worth the hundred dollar price tag and would just buy the standard center-snorkle for lap swiming.
